That's true. I should have been more clear: If it's not using any of their resources for me to run it (which is what I assume "self hosted" means), what purpose is served by the invite only system? While the other commenters mentioned support and stuff which kind of makes sense, it feels to me like their definition of self hosted is different from my definition.
