Here's how I see the question: When did it suddenly become acceptable for a computer manufacturer to decide what software the customer can run on that computer?

Here's how I see the question: When did it suddenly become acceptable for a computer manufacturer to decide what software the customer can run on that computer? I'm sure the money can be good ... but is that really the road anyone wants to go down? Is it worth having your leg chained to the table?
