Not really- chroot provides no isolation, namespaces do. choot is the visible portion (changes root.. ie changes /mnt/blah/bleh to /) but not "the foundation"

Not really- chroot provides no isolation, namespaces do. choot is the visible portion (changes root.. ie changes /mnt/blah/bleh to /) but not "the foundation" Things can in fact work isolated without chroot, too. Its just convenient.
