OTOH, at least there are second-tier vendors. I haven't been following FPGA development, and I thought there's just ALTERA and Xilinx. Do you know any others?

- nraynaud 11y agoin a somewhat related field, you find LUTs in PSOC devices from cypress. I was hopping that would be the gateway drug to FPGA. (for now it's mostly an introduction to shitty electronics vendor CAD tools)
- duskwuff 11y agoThere's Microsemi, Lattice, and QuickLogic. But that's pretty much it.
- dominicgs 11y agoAlso Atmel, although they're either so new to the market or the volume that they ship is so small compared to other manufacturers that they don't appear in any lists that I've seen. http://www.atmel.com/products/other/field_programmable_gate_array/ http://www.atmel.com/products/other/field_programmable_gate_...
- zumtar 11y agoAtmel have had FPGA devices for a very long time, they also have military specification FPGAs that are probably sat in lots of hardware that would need a constant flow of replacement modules for repair. I seem to remember that they had some early 8051 and possibly even AVR devices that had some programmable logic blocks on board too. This reminded me of a cool video I watched the other day, so I made a new post about it - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9486128 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9486128
- __d 11y agoAnd Achronix, (and previously, Tabula, but they shut down in March 2015).
