I'm using iStat Menus5 and Little Snitch, and am not experiencing the same issues. My MacBook Pro is the penultimate 17", and although I still lose Wifi randomly (under Yosemite and Mavericks) my machine's running acceptably, although the stable seems to have steadily degraded since Snow Leopard, which has been my favourite iteration of OSX so far. Really not impressed with Apple as of late.
