This post really does strike a chord. The thing is that if you ask for a raise like that, you will either be 1. Shown the door 2. Offered the money but your subsequent appraisals will take a hit. Oh and once their crunch period is over they will try to get rid of you. And i am too afraid to lose the job i currently have because i don't think i'll find a better culture anywhere else in the country that i live in.
