I think you're right that it's possible, but I just want to point out that most restaurant-type operations operate at about 30% food cost. So if you want to charge $3, your food needs to cost $1.
Delivery, which is included in the OP, is also an economy of scale. It doesn't make sense to do a delivery run just to make a $1 profit.
- acconrad 11y agoRight but most restaurant-type operations do 30% food cost because the other costs are employees and real estate. Couldn't costs be driven down via crowdsourcing and no real estate?
- sfeng 11y agoQuality control would become pretty challenging. Ignoring that though, it all adds up to $/hr. You need to build a setup which allows the participating chefs to make $20-30/hr consistently. Delivery would be a real time sink.
