I apparently inherited several less-than-ideal traits from my mother. One of them is a noticeable reaction to aspartame. If I consume significantly more than one chewing-gum's worth, there's a rapidly onset negative effect on my digestive system. I don't know if my loathing of the taste of aspartame is psychosomatic cause, a helpful co-incidence, or a direct results of this. I can't drink anything with aspartame in, it's revolting.
