If we create dependable, practical things that never break, few people will do anything more than depend upon them, and likely would never learn to create things themselves.
So then, if six or seven billion people learn, and then go on to create something that lasts, compounded across mutliple generations, each with a delta of several billion, we're left with pollution.
- hargup 11y agoWell, we have created a lot of dependable practical things. I say something is dependable when you don't have to look for instances where they break. The hardware of your computer, the architecture of your house, the transport system, water, electricity and food supply. Almost everything that matter is so dependable it is possible to not to learn to create anything at all.
