I can think of two possible, orthogonal answers why that (sort of) fit the hypothesis: - the key is not 'stable relationships with women' but 'stable sexual relationships'; - many gay men do have stable relationships with women, in the form of strong, non-sexual friendships. [Edit: I neither support nor reject the hypothesis; I just don't think gay men are necessarily a good control group for it.]
