If the kid was a repeat offender, have you considered the other side of the coin?
If he only logged in by using a well-know/shared password, and there really was sensitive/personal information, then shame on the school for REPEATEDLY failing to SECURE that information.
IMO a better use of our criminal justice system would be prosecuting the school for some kind of criminal negligence (though that would also be an overreaction... just saying it would be a better use than this nonsense).
"Fool me once..." and all that
- dragontamer 11y agoNope. I try not to victim blame.
- nbouscal 11y agoEven when the victim legitimately deserves the blame? If I jump in front of someone shooting a gun at target practice, are you going to support charging them with manslaughter? If I jump off a bridge, are you going to blame the bridge builder?
- dragontamer 11y ago> If I jump in front of someone shooting a gun at target practice, are you going to support charging them with manslaughter? Manslaughter: unintentional killing that results from recklessness or criminal negligence. Last time I checked, we didn't charge that little girl who shot the gun instructor in the head with an Uzi. Your understanding of the criminal system is poor, please read up on it before continuing this conversation.
- nbouscal 11y agoMy understanding of the criminal system is fine. Your ability to reason sensibly, rather than using the "victim blaming" semantic stop-sign, is more questionable. Your ability to carry on a polite conversation is quite obviously deficient.
