As you pointed out in another thread, there is only 1 place to get free ssl certs, so I would say it is infinitely more difficult.
If self-signed certs were not looked down upon I would consider that to be a reasonable compromise.
- icebraining 12y agoWhy does it need to be free, though? Domains aren't, and you can get a PositiveSSL for $5/year.
- Touche 12y agoDomains are far more cost effective. I can buy 1 domain and put up as many websites as I want. Certs have a 1-per-site cost that is too high.
- josinalvo 12y agoI am looking at their site and failing to find that =P Can you point me towards that ? (not for arguments sake. I really want a certificate)
- icebraining 12y agoDon't go through the main website, they're much more expensive, find a cheaper reseller. Here: https://www.ssls.com/comodo-ssl-certificates/positivessl.html https://www.ssls.com/comodo-ssl-certificates/positivessl.htm... (SSLs is part of the Namecheap group, btw)
- nnrocks 12y agoYou should checkout https://www.cheapsslshop.com https://www.cheapsslshop.com where I got mine. really cheaper.
