Ask HN: Growth strategies for bootstrappers

While there's tons of advice and content for growth hacking for funded startups, are the same strategies relevant for bootstrappers? How did you as a bootstrapping company, grow from 0 to 1,000 customers? I'm already doing customer development and reaching out to my target market but just wondering if there are more ideas that you would be willing to share?
