I have four direct channels of communication with my team. Email, phone/SMS/iMessage, gchat, and Slack. Their team SLA guarantees 99.99% uptime, and their status site [1] indicates 99.999% uptime. Everyone will always be reachable with effort, even in a group setting. Slack isn't an infrastructure critical component (such as Github or AWS) where 0.001% downtime would effect my business.
