i too prefer LA over the other major cities (sf,ny,chi) for a variety of reasons, but to be fair it's a lot better than it was even 10 years ago in terms of diversity, culture, food, transportation, entertainment, industry, etc. there is still a large polarity of wealth but it's not as bad as SF or NY in my opinion, just because there's more land to use.
