DI is a good and useful thing, but like a lot of fads in software development it is being overused in some places... Actually what DI brings to mind for me is functional programming. By injecting your dependencies (as opposed to simply constructing them) you are moving your code just slightly in the functional direction. This brings many well known benefits, but also its own costs.
