The way I see it is traditional artists can make physical pieces and sell each for $1-5K only because it's an original. A digital artist making still image/3D printed pieces would have to sell many printed copies to make the same profit. At $40 profit per copy will take 20 sales to make $800. But there are only so many walls in the world, they change only so often.

Could set up various payment schemes but I have a feeling it will only profit each artist as much as prints. The advantage goes to the consumer who can switch between artists at the expense of having another glowing screen.
