Is it time yet for a new OS that emphasizes immutability, security, concurrency and other functional-language paradigms? I feel like even today, we are not seeing the true possible performance of our hardware due to all the "sediment layers" (as Jean-Louis Gassée put it) of our popular OS'es. We're also not seeing the possible reliability and security, either.
