All the comments along the lines of "if a person looking at a license plate and remembering it isn't an invasion of my rights, why is a government database so bad?" make me wonder why my classmates had such a hard time grasping induction. Perhaps the concept is only intuitive when convenient to the user. As other commentors pointed out, the government is not a private citizen, and the world is not made of math.
