I used to use 3 monitors but now I use 2 (one is the size of 2 monitors, 32"). On the left side of one I have the ide and on the other side usually whatever references or document I need to work with, and then on the second monitor half I have for skype and half I have for the debugger/console. PROTIP: Windows 10 makes it exceptionally easy for a multimonitor setup due to the new snap behavior. I can't imagine developing without 3 screens worth of real estate. If I had room for another I'd probably put it to very good use.
