Are you taking the efficiency of recycling lithium batteries into account? As I understand it, recycling lithium batteries isn't that efficient, and the average lifetime of lithium batteries, currently, is relatively low in relation to the usable lifetime of a car. The main point of the article seems to be about raising the very real concern that lithium is yet another finite resource which we do need to be aware of.
