It's not exactly the same as open source, but the Assembly (http://assembly.com http://assembly.com) community is a great way to get involved in building products. The community builds businesses together, and everyone shares ownership based on what they've contributed. (also, it's all open sourced under AGPL).
You can jump in on products doing all sorts of things from mockups, to docs, to technical writing, etc. And you can always start your own product too. :)
Here's an example of a product that needs help with mockups of a technical process: https://assembly.com/runbook/bounties/281 https://assembly.com/runbook/bounties/281
[disclosure: I work at Assembly -- happy to answer any questions: austin@assembly.com]
- ics 12y agohttps://assembly.com/secret-society/assets https://assembly.com/secret-society/assets bears a... striking resemblance... to a certain enterprise linux company's existing logo. Do you have any sort of review process in place for this sort of thing (esp. considering these projects are intended to make money)?
- awwstn 12y agoWow - I totally didn't notice that. If we receive a formal complaint about something the community is doing, we'll usually jump in and try to address it – and in a case like this I'll reach out to that team and let them know nicely that they should be creating their own brand identity. Thank you for pointing this out.
