- manuelriel 12y agoYou need a good understanding of computers to become a decent programmer. If you feel you have that and you're interested in the topic, age won't matter. I also didn't take a proper class until 24, but did lots of IT stuff before that. Learning to program was like unlocking a castle of mystery for me. So go ahead!
- Eraden 12y agoJust start doing this. If you will have no progress then search for something else. Otherwise keep going. Most abilities require only practice.
- gregorkas 12y agoPlease always remember that you can learn anything you want. All it takes is some blood, sweat, and tears.
- 415bruno 12y agoYou can always learn new things, but as a product guy I tried a few times to really understand what every little thing I can think of / ask really implies and I succeeded at doing a few things but I know I'll never be an engineer. Being an engineer is really different than knowing how to code.
- maniacalrobot 12y agoI've been a full time programmer for 12 years, and I'm still learning. There is no magical 6 month course that at the end of you're a 'programmer'. I'd say the majority of programmers are programmers because they enjoy the challenges of problem solving and controlling processes. I'd also say that most programmers are self taught anyway! I'm also not sure there is now standard way to learn either. Sure you could take a course, but it will probably skip out lots of parts along the way. For example, learning to program websites in Ruby, won't teach you the basics of mathematics or algorithms. Read as much as you can, from as many sources as you can. Start simple, which IS slow, and takes a lot of time, and won't have much to show for your endeavours, but build on it, and you'll be able to accomplish anything
- umadali 12y agoyes, Start out with basics, and if it works for you, and you find it interesting, you can build on it.following are few options, http://www.codecademy.com http://www.codecademy.com https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=introduction+to+programming https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=introduction+to... Books in programming section can also be a good starting point if you find reading more helpful. hope this helps.
