When I was about 15 I had a work experience placement at a local hospital that had a paternoster for staff use. I remember the first time I rode the thing all the way - a complete revolution, and the trepidation I felt, not really knowing what would happen when the lift got to the top. Not to mention the exhilaration of jumping on and off the thing and wondering what would happen if I tripped and my legs got caught.
