but you still need a high family income to send the kid to a school (private) where there will be a teacher who will have the connections with ivy league schools so they can write a letter of recommendation that will be read and not summarily discarded at my (private) school the ONLY way to get into an ivy league (no matter how high your grades were) was to get a letter from the teacher with the connection to Harvard ... or the (other) teacher with the connection to Stanford ... or the (other) teacher with the connection to Yale students even decided early on which courses to take so that they would have exposure to these teachers early on
