Confidently assert your ignorance (it's better than misrepresenting your abilities) and work to improve. Provide value however you can (even if it means doing menial work, unrelated to your primary job). 2. I don't know what is normal. What is normal for me may not be normal for society at large, and this may not be normal for the company you've joined. 3. I sure hope not.
