If Pilot had a root pass for the door lock, this could have ended up differently.
My sincerest condolences to families of passengers..
- jackweirdy 12y agoOnly unless pilot/co-pilot roles were the same. If it were the pilot trying to crash the plane - there’d still be a problem
- brc 12y agoThe issue with that is that the pilot can be tortured/blackmailed until they give up the password/code. The point with the designs now is that once they are locked, they stay locked, and no amount of killing hostages gets it opened.
- hvidgaard 12y agoThe entire point of the door lock is to let control of the aircraft remain in the hands of the crew in the cockpit. If there was a root pass, that could be rendered useless - which is what they do not want.
