Why do you think it is impractical?
- davidrusu 12y agoplease don't encourage the trolls.
- wz1000 12y agoHow do you differentiate between a troll and someone who is misinformed?
- neotrinity 12y agoand the plain dumb...
- WolfeReader 12y agoHe made a negative statement about a popular language and provided no factual support. He is not advancing the discussion. If he was open to the idea that Haskell has practical use, he would have indicated so in his post.
- AnimalMuppet 12y agoPopular? Um, no. "Increasingly popular" might be true, but "popular" is a bit of a stretch. The problem that I see is more that the quality of the working environment is part of the practicality of using the language. That is, I think his criticism is self-contradictory. (Plus, the way it's worded just smells like a troll...)
- davidrusu 12y agoThese kinds of comments tend to derail threads, kronos is a pretty cool project but now 1/4 of the comment section is discussing how 'practical' Haskell is. There are other threads that discuss the merits of Haskell
- wz1000 12y agoThe thread doesn't have a limited size. This isn't stopping people from discussing Kronos.
- tempodox 12y agoIn order to circumvent handling of mutable state or side effects, you have to use methods & techniques that feel highly artificial and obscure to me. Haskell does not feel like one language, but two. One is beautiful, and the other is monad torture hell. And being punished with a monad at every turn where your code actually does something is a parody at best, but not a practical PL.
