I mean, by that broad definition, everyone is changing the world, it goes along with being a sentient being that exists in the world. Although I can't tell if his "changing the world" comment was tongue-in-cheek or not, the tech industry does have a problem with self-importance... or at least, that's the broad perception of the industry, to the point that it gets parodied in media (see: HBO's Silicon Valley).
