It was my understanding that California's CARB emissions standards were specifically written to keep foreign diesel vehicles off CA roads.
- Aloisius 12y agoThey were specifically written because LA was an unlivable smoggy hell. Diesel particulates and ground level ozone was killing people and causing everything from asthma to cancer. I was regularly told to stay indoors growing up in LA. You still get a couple dozen smog days a year, but only a couple extreme days. That is way down from the 150-200 days of extreme smog a year that forced me indoors as a kid.
