So it's because they are rich?
- devopsproject 12y agoWould you sue someone with no money? It may not be the only reason but it probably an important one.
- quickcap 12y agoNo Ellen and her Husband being rich are the reason this is getting new coverage.
- forgotpasswd3x 12y agoIf you already made up your mind on why this is getting news coverage, why'd you post the question in the first place?
- lingben 12y agoNo. The exact opposite. They aren't rich. They're broke. It would make sense that they would sue to get $16M since they could sure use that. The hilarious part is that had 'Buddy' not sued his building for not selling him a 5th apartment, none of his malfeasance would have come to light, at least not so quickly. When he asked to buy a fifth apartment in his building they asked to see his financials to see if he could afford it. Routine stuff. Problem for him was that the board was filled with very rich and very financially literate people who immediately saw through his financial smoke screen and realized beyond a $50,000 bank account he had no real assets whatsoever. The fact that he sued them allowed them to subpoena financial records and really dig into his accounts through the court proceedings. That then got the SEC's interest. 'Buddy' is a real character. Small time hustler but still, a real character.
