We fund a lot of 3-5 year horizon companies. 10-20 years is harder. This does not work for startups. I have a few ideas I want to try, though.

Perhaps I should clarify: does YC accept companies whose core tech is only buildable in 3-5 years - i.e., 3 months of work on the tech gives no salable product. I am following the YC adventures with interest, and look forward to seeing the long-range horizon ideas.
