I got the following assessment:
The short version is that you can start working in the U.S. within 6 weeks, and stay for at least 2 years with:
- a 82% chance of success
- $2,183.13/year cost to sponsor you
I suspect this is wrong.
Previously I was also told that the waiting period could easily be up to 9 months.
- scient 12y agoThere is a ton of misinformation out there related to different visas. The time spent waiting depends on the type of visa you are after, as does the costs and requirements involved. I personally got a H1B visa paperwork done within a week or two, got the positive answer like a month after submitting my request (and note that the submission times here are fixed, it can only be done once a year during a specific timeframe), and was working in the US within days of the visa allowing it. Just to clarify the timeline - you apply in April, get a response in May, and can start working in October.
