Leaving one of the most successful startups in history isn’t easy. Interesting sentence. Isn't it a bit early to say that MongoDB is "successful"?

- turk- 12y agoThey're valued at 1.6 billon. Pretty successful if you ask me. http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2015/01/14/big-data-startup-mongodb-now-valued-at-1-6-bililon/ http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2015/01/14/big-data-startup-mong...
- philippnagel 12y agoIf they are not publicly traded, this value is meaningless.
- ExpiredLink 12y agoThey just need to find a greater fool.
- xrstf 12y agoOverstating their success and awesomeness is just MongoDB's normal mantra. You get used to it.
- functional_test 12y agoCan these kind of comments stop? Please? This has been trumpeted pretty much constantly on HN, and even if it's true, does it matter? Is anyone seriously evaluating their database on the basis of marketing copy? I suppose if you do, you can't be surprised if you have a bad time.
- virmundi 12y agoWhile an old trope, MongoDB's awesomeness drove a lot of attention to it. To some degree this led to management picking it for awesomeness value (yes, even in stogie enterprises like Insurance or Government Fraud). I think many on HN are partially riding a MEME and partially reacting viscerally to a technically mediocre product getting as far as it had (this is HN after all).
