I also think the way Americans (and now sadly, the rest of the world is starting to pick it up) say "I reached out to <x>" is the dumbest thing ever. No, you didn't reach out, you tried to contact. Unless you were close and you reached out to touch them? Those are 2 things that wear a little thin with me. How in touch with the generally accepted way of the world do I sound?
