I think it is far more useful to build a process for software engineering that continually reviews itself and makes things better. A fizzBuzz test is useful to figure out how a person approaches a coding problem and something like that should be part of hiring new developers, but most whiteboard interviews take the whole thing way too far and approach it as an exam that you have to pass. Fact is that everyone has their 10X moments and their doldrums. Only by working on processes and team building, can you create an environment that lifts your engineers to the 10X level more often.
