  Because talking through events is healthy. Whether that's in public or private is totally up to him.

  Because a lot of people go through the aftermath of being fired, so having somebody else to empathize with is nothing if not a reminder that you're not alone.

  There are tons of positives, and tons of negatives, to opening up your story to the world. (This isn't really daily life, it's the end of a 5 year stint.) If it's not for you, fine. But that's your decision, not his. And vice versa.
