I too am a Canadian who emigrated to Australia and despite the occasional scare-mongering from the Coalition I enjoy the more laid-back atmosphere here. Even going back to Canada to visit now (never mind the US) I find it to now be much more uptight, suspicious and unwelcoming than what I've become used to in Australia.
