Excellent salient story, thank you. I'm a former public servant, and it's really nice to see someone share a story here showing that the 'nameless government bureaucrats', so often derided by the programmer community, can actually care a whole hell of a lot about their jobs when they feel like they're making a difference.
- bobwaycott 12y agoAs I said, I felt kind of weird offering such seemingly over-the-top praise. I have a number of issues with CHA in general, and even with EPB in particular. But none of the latter issues have ever had anything to do with doubting that anyone actually cared a whole hell of a lot about their jobs. It always had more to do with philosophical differences in implementation details. Well, that and I'm just no good at playing politics. I like to see needs and solve them, not debate them or structure solving them in such a way that my horses win the internal and/or community accolades.
