At many previous times, on days when important, influential or otherwise respected persons have died, the site turns the header bar (normally orange) black, as a mark of respect.
- DanBC 12y agoMany? About three times, I think.
- raheemm 12y agoI remember the black bar for Dennis Richie and Steve Jobs only. It would be fitting for Leonard Nemoy too.
- wtbob 12y agoI dunno, I think Richie was appropriate, and maybe Jobs, simply because, like him or not he was a great notable. But an actor? That just doesn't seem right. The black bar should recognise significance in computing, I think. No offense to Nimoy of course; the guy was an iconic actor and personality. But, as Spock would note, his passing is irrelevant to computing.
- danellis 12y agoWhy does that matter? Many of the posts here are irrelevant to computing. It's not like that's the exclusive topic of this site.
- noblethrasher 12y agoJohn McCarthy and Doug Englebart got a black bars as well.
- tomjen3 12y agoAaron Swartz got one as well.
