I guess I didn't consider that at all. I must say my only experience with home-schooled kids was that "weird kid" from high school who happened to have been home-schooled. I agree that conventional schooling is not for everyone, and middle school is a particularly brutal time for young girls. Lord knows I'm still scarred from my experiences during that time.
