Pretty sure 2x-3x number is bullshit. H1-B visas are transferable between employers. If someone is paying you 1/2 or 1/3 the market rate, it pretty much a given that some other employer will easily pay you 20-30% more and hire you away. I would say 20% is probably the higher end of increase, if any.
