Well, I've been to Japan, Kuwait, France, Turkey, Mexico, Canada, and all over the US, and don't consider myself especially well traveled. (I recently bumped into someone I knew in high school; turned out that he had hitchhiked the length of Africa.) Someone who had never left their hometown of 2,000 would have a hard time convincing me they have a better insight into the human condition than I did. Wouldn't be impossible, but... Now if they want to move back, after kicking around the world for a few years, more power to them.
