money === time. If I had 20 million dollars, I could spend all day doing whatever I wanted to without having a care in the world. If anything is happiness, that is happiness. The distinction is meaningless.
- PSeitz 12y agoI sense javascript here. Happiness is a feeling, not an action or a plan.
- pyrrhotech 12y agoI think it's a state of being. Pleasure and pain are temporary feelings. Perhaps it's achieved differently by different people. I don't care how other people achieve it or even if it's irrelevant to their goals. To me, happiness is freedom from stress and control of my own time. It really is that simple, and money buys it. Others may not be like that, but I am. As someone who nearly has enough money to live the rest of my life without stress or need of a job of any kind, I can say I have gotten happier and happier every day that I've gotten closer. In the next year or two I should be totally free and happy to live the rest of my life without a worry in the world. Perhaps in 5 years I'll report back on how I'm doing.
- semi-extrinsic 12y agoMy personal definition: when you are getting paid to do essentially the same as what you would be doing if you had 20 million dollars and no obligations.
