3 million dollars annually in a budget of 3.9 trillion? Next problem.
- ajmarsh 12y agoFTA: American farm subsidies are egregiously expensive, harvesting $20 billion a year from taxpayers’ pockets. Most of the money goes to big, rich farmers producing staple commodities such as corn and soyabeans in states such as Iowa.
- rhino369 12y agoWell what does that 20 billion get us? I think the Corn Fuel subsidies get us exactly dick and should be cut. But maintaining Americas arable land and having the capacity to use is not only a national security issue but a global food security issue. Especially with the coming global warming crisis.
- surfmike 12y agoNope, it's 20 billion for all farm subsidies. 3 million was just for farms who didn't grow any crops at all. And we should cut out any wasteful program, no matter how small.
- moomin 12y agoYep, that makes it about 4% of the deficit. Try to figure out any way to knock 4% off by being mean to disadvantaged people.
