I use it all the time for my work in Javascript, Angular and Node.js and rarely see locked questions. What subjects are/were you working in? Are you sure confirmation bias isn't causing you to overestimate the frequency of this happening?

Same here; the stuff I end up seeing is all over the map. I only rarely see locked questions, and those are usually older ones.
