Here's a question that will help: Many of the major outsourcing-providing countries have far more developers than even the US, so why aren't those outsourcing countries at least creating a ton of early stage startups? My answer, as someone currently living in a major outsourcing providing country -- doing developer consulting is EXTREMELY opposite from making a startup, in many of the small but most important ways. Having a ton of raw developer resources, as many of these outsourcing countries have, is not the bottleneck. Only working strictly as an outsourced developer will teach you to optimize all the wrong things.
