Rule of thumb: people who use whom are trying to sound clever.
- cpr 12y agoNot always. In this case, they'd be using correct grammar as it was used for quite some time (centuries?). Of course, there are cases where people use a false whom because it sounds more sophisticated, but this isn't one of them.
