Is it "polemic" now to expect that people pay taxes, and get punished when they try to cheat their way out of it?
- chrisbennet 12y agoApparently "Only the little people pay taxes." or go to jail. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leona_Helmsley http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leona_Helmsley
- easytiger 12y agoPeople do pay taxes. Very few don't. This kind of diatribe just gives governments mindshare to promote even more aggressive and punitive taxes.
- mercurial 12y agoYou mean that the people who got the most out of the system shouldn't be expected to contribute back the most?
- easytiger 12y agoI knew you were going to say that.
- vixen99 12y agoMost out of the system? In what way could this possibly be true? 100 billion is 1/6th of UK government expenditure in a year. Moreover that money was generated by these people not money creamed off the UK taxpayers. Simple arithmetic tells us that the people who get the most out of the system are the ordinary UK citizens who use government services .
- mercurial 12y agoIn the way that the existence of various government-maintained infrastructures (that is, "the system") is what permitted them to acquire wealth in the first place.
