- PhantomGremlin 12y agoThat is no excuse for bad writing. I couldn't imagine a clearer repudiation of the absurd hyperbole of the original article: always been useless for applications such as aircraft. The Soviet Union built 1,186 of this "useless" aircraft, and it went on to have a multi-decade operational history.[1] For its time the MiG-25 will undoubtedly turn out to be a much finer engineering achievement than today's F-35. - n_to_the_flower 12y agoThe MiG-25 was one fast mother, despite having to change those huge engines often... It did achieve a world record in altitude. - logfromblammo 12y agoThe graphite pencil might be a finer engineering achievement than today's F-35, in that you can take one out of the package without it setting itself on fire, and you don't have to wait 4 years before actually writing anything with it.
